We will re-open on 1st April, 2026 for one month and on 1st September for one month.
Applications should be for grants of no more than £25,000 and strictly related to matters of literature in all its forms. We are not able to consider applications for social or charitable purposes that are not connected with CAT’s underlying mission ’to educate the public in the appreciation of literature’. The Trustees have decided that they will not consider any future requests from charities supporting specific nationalities, genders, races, religions or abilities. We are proud of the fact that many of our partnerships do have social impact, but all of them begin with the written word

The Charlotte Aitken Trust will be operational until 2030 when it will cease to exist as an active grant-giving organisation and survive only in the form of the legacy it has created on behalf of Charlotte Aitken alongside its various charitable partners.
