We will be open for funding applications for the month of April 2026

Applications should be for grants of no more than £25,000 and strictly related to CAT’s underlying mission ’to educate the public in the appreciation of literature’.

Charities supporting specific nationalities, genders, races, religions or abilities are not eligible. We are proud of the fact that many of our partnerships do have social impact, but all of them begin with the written word.

Due to current and on-going commitments, we are unable to consider any further applications from the theatrical industry, literary festivals, libraries, individual schools, writing courses or major capital projects

We do not accept applications from individuals, independent publishers, or literary magazines

To begin the process please email CAT at info@charlotteaitkentrust.org.uk No more than six applications will go forward to be considered by the trustees. If your request to apply is successful you will receive a reply with application guidelines and relevant dates.

The Charlotte Aitken Trust will be operational until 2030 when it will cease to exist as an active grant-giving organisation and survive only in the form of the legacy it has created on behalf of Charlotte Aitken alongside its various charitable partners.
